Corporate Entertainment – 125th Year Anniversary Performance

Walkers Nonsuch Toffee hired ‘Punch The Air‘ corporate entertainment party band for their 125th year in business anniversary. Also hired as their Christmas party band. It was held at Longton Rugby Club, Stoke and everyone had a smashing and very memorable time. We got the party started straight away by performing a mix of party music from modern day contemporary tunes. Then songs through the decades all the way back to the 1950s and also indie rock covers.

There were guests on the dancefloor the whole night from the very start to the very end. Our function band performed songs by Amy Winehouse, Queen, The La’s, The Human League, Oasis. As well as Florence And The Machine, Coldplay, Bryan Adams and lots more from our repertoire. We even took multiple requests on the night making sure everyone was catered for. Booking Corporate Entertainment shouldn’t be a monumental task.

The clients original corporate event band had to pull out after an initial booking was placed (They had mistakenly double booked themselves out. This is NOTHING that Punch The Air would ever do). So we were the companies next port of call. Very nicely ‘Punch The Air‘ came highly recommended from a previous wedding band client of ours from within their company. About this corporate party

The anniversary event was held on a Friday night. As the M6 Motorway is hard to judge on any night of the week let alone a Friday. So we had the forethought to arrive at this North Staffordshire party Stoke-On-Trent venue much earlier than planned. There were approximately 80 guests at the anniversary party (including guests partners) which filled the small function room well. Our function band PA and lighting equipment can be resized to handle any size function room, stage, outdoor or indoor festival. Professional party band ‘Punch The Air‘ can also handle venues with much smaller and much larger numbers of guests too. Place your trust in a band with our many years of experience and hire professional musicians.

As with most corporate events, we allowed the clients to use our microphones and PA system to make announcements, speeches and give out awards and gifts. We pride ourselves on being being very easy to get on with and none “Diva” type professional musicians. You can pretty much ask us anything and we’ll help you out with it. We are also great problem solvers if something should happen to go wrong or not run to schedule at your corporate event. We consider ourselves the indie killers of the same old boring bland music with our tremendous mix of Indie Rock & Pop chart music from all decades.

Remember there is only one of our covers band for your particular day. So get booking us at least 6 to 12 months in advance to avoid disappointment at your big event. What another musicians think is good promo isn’t good promo.

There are too many bands out there who simply don’t care about providing their clients with quality video and photos . Should you really be considering paying thousands of pounds for a party band whose promotional video was shot on a friends phone, all shaky, with murky quality and awful distorted audio? Photos that are blurred and out of focus again taken with camera phones? We certainly think not. This is all because its too much effort for these bands (Who always state they are “Professionals”, “The UK’s Premier this and that” yet have nothing to back up these credentials) to spend the extra time creating something of higher quality instead.

How other bands pull the wool over your eyes.

The other type of promotional video currently doing the rounds are completely over the top “Mimed to” videos. The likes of which audio and performances are completely impossible to pull of live. What you are seeing and hearing with 99% of other bands out there is studio recorded audio. Recorded then re-recorded until it is 100% correct. Then extra guitar parts will be recorded over the top and even keyboards and string sections in some cases. Ask yourself when you watch these videos “How can I hear a second guitar (keyboard/strings etc) in a three piece band”? The answer is that you shouldn’t be able to.

The band then shoot a studio video with fast moving video camera angles. You won’t see an audience member in sight anywhere. Usually these types of videos are paid for by the agencies who have exclusive rights to the band you’re watching. In tern you are paying for this video to have been produced yourself on the 20-40% markup agency fee.

This is a huge 1980’s tune that everyone knows and loves and always works brilliantly as a first dance song for your wedding too. It was written by Freddie Mercury and released on the 1980 Queen album ‘The Game’. The single reached No. 2 in the UK charts just pipped to the post by Dr Hook ‘When You’re In Love With A Beautiful Woman’. Mercury stated that he wrote the song as a tribute to Elvis Presley, which is obviously very clearly the case. Shropshire Function Band – Vlog 002

‘Punch The Air‘ had a blast at a festival style wedding fair in Shropshire. We performed as a Brook House Farm Shrewsbury wedding band so here are our experiences and all the fun we had performing live and mucking around with the other exhibitors there. Live entertainment songs performed in Shrops are Dakota by Stereophonics, I’m A Believer by The Monkees, Mr Brightside by The Killers. Wonderwall by Oasis, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sex On Fire by Kings Of Leon, Hey Jude by The Beatles. We also decided to learn and play the Game Of Thrones theme tune for a chuckle. Watch as we get all Salop competitive with traditional style funfair games, there’s drone footage and we chat with other exhibitors. We eat some some Shropshire wedding cake supplier samples. Then we check out Shrops wedding dresses, there are guitar solo’s and we get a bit dizzy. We visit a Shropshire wedding photographer photo booth for hire to have our photos taken and eat some Indian street food. The Hednesford FC party venue

Hednesford Town FC features an excellent sized permanent wooden dance-floor. Which is carpeted around the sides helping to absorb unwanted noise and ringing from the band PA system. It has a good sized licensed bar serving draught beers and a selection of other spirits and soft drinks. Catering can be provided from a simple buffet to a four course waiter service. We’ll provide you with all your live & DJ music when you book a wedding band in Hednesford.

It would be easier if the band could gain access to the lower rear gates though. Consequently this would making loading in and out even easier with less disturbances to guests. There is plenty of parking for guests and band members. Our band vehicles can be pulled up right outside the venue to load in pretty much directly into the lift. The location of this wedding venue is excellent being very near to the main A449 Stafford Road. It has very easy access to Wolverhampton, Penkridge, Codsall Wood, Newport and Stafford. It is very easy to have your Classic Indie Rock Anthems band Punch The Air set up and perform in the Ballroom as there is a door right next to the stage area (Which is right next to the parking area) for easy loading in and out. It’s pretty much 5 steps and a single door and we’re in. Then we’re ready to set up thus leading to minimum disruptions. As Somerford Hall Staffs features many little side rooms and corridors guests are easily able to be in a different part of the building while this professional party band set up and soundcheck. The Ballroom is a perfect size for Punch The Air as it is 12m x 7m. There is plenty of room for the wedding band to perform. Subsequently leaving lots of great space for guests to dance or just sit down and enjoy the music. The sound of the room is slightly echoy due to the high walls and ceiling. Once there are a few guests in the room the echo is quickly absorbed. Our indie rock cover band will make sure the room sounds fantastic for you and all your guests.

One of the great things about Somerford Hall Stafford is that the evening buffet can be served in one of the many other little rooms off the Ballroom. This way its not taking up space in the main live wedding entertainment area.

Volume levels for Staffs wedding band

Although the Somerford Hall website states that volume must be limited to 75 decibels there is no noise limiter. Therefore this did not prove an issue for wedding party band Punch The Air while performing live there on any occasion. We’ve performed many wedding receptions at this Stafford wedding venue with guests often coming as far as Cheshire, Congleton and Macclesfield. We can highly recommend Somerford Hall for your special day due to its beautiful interior and exterior and accessibility.
