Christmas Party Band Xmas Lights Switch On

Due to our massive success at 2018’s Christmas Party Band Xmas Lights Switch On indie rock party band ‘Punch The Air‘ were asked to return for the second consecutive year to Lichfield Christmas Lights Switch on Sunday November 24th 2019. Also we’ve been back many continuous years afterwards. The Christmas event free entry and there was a lot of fun things going on all day and night from about midday until 6pm. There was another Lichfield band playing earlier in the day, a rock choir, a Christmas market and lots more happening off and on the stage. During our indie rock cover band performance in 2019 we decided to mix things up a little bit. We were joined on stage by our optional female lead singer Nina, who sang many female lead songs with us including You’ve Got The Love by Florence + The Machines. Also I Love Rock & Rock by Joan Jett, and Don’t You Want Me by The Human League and lots more. Stage, sound and lighting was provided by Cannock Sound Hire. ‘Punch The Air‘ band is based in Lichfield, Staffordshire but perform at shows up and down the United Kingdom every week of the year. Essentially we are an indie cover band. But also cover a wide variety of genres and decades at many different types of events and bookings. What another musicians think is good promo isn’t good promo.

There are too many bands out there who simply don’t care about providing their clients with quality video and photos . Should you really be considering paying thousands of pounds for a party band whose promotional video was shot on a friends phone, all shaky, with murky quality and awful distorted audio? Photos that are blurred and out of focus again taken with camera phones? We certainly think not. This is all because its too much effort for these bands (Who always state they are “Professionals”, “The UK’s Premier this and that” yet have nothing to back up these credentials) to spend the extra time creating something of higher quality instead.

How other bands pull the wool over your eyes.

The other type of promotional video currently doing the rounds are completely over the top “Mimed to” videos. The likes of which audio and performances are completely impossible to pull of live. What you are seeing and hearing with 99% of other bands out there is studio recorded audio. Recorded then re-recorded until it is 100% correct. Then extra guitar parts will be recorded over the top and even keyboards and string sections in some cases. Ask yourself when you watch these videos “How can I hear a second guitar (keyboard/strings etc) in a three piece band”? The answer is that you shouldn’t be able to.

The band then shoot a studio video with fast moving video camera angles. You won’t see an audience member in sight anywhere. Usually these types of videos are paid for by the agencies who have exclusive rights to the band you’re watching. In tern you are paying for this video to have been produced yourself on the 20-40% markup agency fee.

Shropshire Function Band – Vlog 002

‘Punch The Air‘ had a blast at a festival style wedding fair in Shropshire. We performed as a Brook House Farm Shrewsbury wedding band so here are our experiences and all the fun we had performing live and mucking around with the other exhibitors there. Live entertainment songs performed in Shrops are Dakota by Stereophonics, I’m A Believer by The Monkees, Mr Brightside by The Killers. Wonderwall by Oasis, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sex On Fire by Kings Of Leon, Hey Jude by The Beatles. We also decided to learn and play the Game Of Thrones theme tune for a chuckle. Later on in the afternoon we were even joined on stage by Britains Got Talent star singer Pippa Langhorne for Valerie by Amy Winehouse. Shropshire Function Band what we got up to

Watch as we get all Salop competitive with traditional style funfair games, there’s drone footage and we chat with other exhibitors. We eat some some Shropshire wedding cake supplier samples. Then we check out Shrops wedding dresses, there are guitar solo’s and we get a bit dizzy. We visit a Shropshire wedding photographer photo booth for hire to have our photos taken and eat some Indian street food. In total we took three Shrops wedding venue bookings from this wedding fair so it was a very successful (And tiring) days work for indie rock cover band Punch The Air.
