We reckon most couples don’t want a band that plays polite background music while everyone checks their phones. They want the bride and groom, the grandparents and the mates from university all singing at the same time. That is what we do. We play the songs people already know and love, turn them up, and keep the dance floor busy from the first chord to the last.
Our set leans on indie rock and indie pop, with classic tracks from the 50s through to the 20s mixed in so every age group gets a moment. Expect Kings Of Leon, The Beatles, Coldplay, Stereophonics and plenty more alongside the party favourites that nobody can resist at a wedding reception. We play it all live, and we play it with energy, because a wedding party should feel like a gig.
The Setting: A Lakeside Barn Off The A34
Sandhole Oak Barn is a family-run wedding venue on a rural estate at Manchester Road, Hulme Walfield, Congleton, Cheshire CW12 2JH. The venue describes separate spaces for each part of the day, with a Ceremony Barn, a Dining Barn and a Small Barn that couples can use as they wish. Vows can also be exchanged outdoors beneath the Oak Clock Tower close to the water, and drinks can be enjoyed on the decked veranda overlooking the lake. The venue lists room for up to 140 guests during the day and 180 in the evening, which is a lovely number for a proper party.
If you would like live music while guests gather for the ceremony or sip prosecco beside the lake, Andy also offers a solo acoustic performance earlier in the day especially for this. Then the full band takes over once the evening gets going.
How We Run The Evening
We have found that one long set, played once the cake has been cut and the buffet has finished, works best. There are no distractions, no one wandering off to the buffet queue, and you get the very best of the band at the point your guests are most up for it. That said if you’d rather we performed two sets instead then this really isn’t an issue for us. It’s your wedding so you should have it your way.
For speeches, we can also provide microphone and speaker hire, and if you fancy extending the night, a late night DJ or evening photography can be added too.
