If you are hunting for a Commissioner’s House Kent wedding band with a proper set list and no fuss, you have landed in the right spot. Punch The Air are a three-piece guitar-based indie rock covers band who spend our weekends and week days turning wedding receptions, private parties and corporate do’s into the kind of night people still talk about a year or 15 later. A Georgian house on the banks of the Medway, filled with guests and a decent PA, is exactly our idea of a good Friday, Saturday or any day of the week. Why couples ask us to play as their Commissioners House Kent Wedding Band

We are not a covers act that reads off a fixed set list and hopes for the best. Andy Starkey, our singer and bass player, has been leading this band since 2013, and over that time we have worked out which songs actually get a room like Commissioner’s House moving and which ones just sound nice on paper. Guests want the songs they already know the words to, played with real guitars and a real drum kit, not a backing track. That is the whole idea behind Punch The Air, and it is why so much of our diary is built on personal recommendations from previous wedding parties rather than adverts.

What a Commissioner’s House Kent wedding band actually sounds like in the room

A Georgian house with high ceilings and wooden floors carries sound differently to a modern marquee, and we adjust our levels accordingly rather than turning up and hoping. We keep our own PA and lighting rig, which means we do not rely on the venue for equipment, and we always arrive early enough to get sound checked and out of the way before your guests start arriving. The result is a set that fills the room properly during the evening reception without drowning out conversation earlier in the night when people are still catching up over a drink.

Songs we play, and where to see our full set list

Our repertoire leans heavily on guitar-driven indie rock, with a few well-chosen curveballs thrown in to keep the dance floor guessing. On any given night you might hear Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis sitting next to Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus, with a bit of Feeder and some Van Morrison and Beatles for the guests who prefer their music with a bit more soul in it. We also cover Amy Winehouse and other songs when the moment calls for something slower before the tempo picks back up again. You can browse our full set list and get a proper feel for the range before you book.

Indie Rock Wedding Band 'Punch The Air'

Weddings, corporate events and private parties at the Historic Dockyard

Commissioner’s House sits within the Historic Dockyard estate in Chatham, one of Kent’s newer wedding venues following a full restoration of its Georgian rooms and gardens. The house itself, Britain’s oldest naval building, offers exclusive use for up to 200 guests, with the surrounding Commissioner’s Garden providing a proper setting for a drinks reception before the evening party gets underway. It is not just a wedding venue either. We are just as happy turning up for a milestone birthday, a wedding anniversary or a company celebration hired privately on the estate, with the same set list and the same effort put in regardless of the occasion.

The full address is Commissioner’s House, The Historic Dockyard, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TZ, and it is easy enough to find whether you are driving in or arriving by train.

Kent and the Medway towns

Chatham sits within the Medway towns alongside Rochester and Gillingham, with Maidstone a short drive further south. The estate is around 35 miles from central London, which makes it a realistic option for guests travelling in from further afield without an overnight stay becoming compulsory. We regularly play weddings and private parties across this part of Kent, so if your venue is nearby but not listed on our site, it is still well worth asking Andy whether we can make it work.

If you like the idea of a proper indie rock party band rather than a generic function act, Punch The Air might be exactly what your evening reception needs.
