Looking for a Stone Lawn Tennis and Squash Club party band? Punch The Air are a three-piece, guitar-driven indie rock covers band who love turning a club function room into a proper night out for every generation in the room. We play the songs people know and shout back at the stage, from indie anthems to chart favourites. Contact band leader Andy to check on fee and availability.
Why a Stone Lawn Tennis and Squash Club party band works so well
Club function rooms are some of our favourite places to play. Everybody knows somebody, the bar is close by and the dancefloor tends to fill from the very first chorus. Stone Lawn Tennis & Squash Club sits at 117 Newcastle Road, Stone, Staffordshire ST15 8LD, and the club’s own hire page lists birthday parties, anniversaries, Christmas parties and corporate events. That is exactly the kind of night a live party band in Stone is made for.
If a bride and groom are weighing up an evening wedding party or wedding reception here, the club says its rooms can be hired to suit your event, so ask them first. Once you have a date pencilled in, get in touch and we will let you know if we are free.
Indie anthems and singalongs that fill a dancefloor
Andy sings and plays bass, and the three of us keep things loud, tight and good humoured. Our sets lean on indie rock and indie pop, but we mix in plenty for the older relatives and the mates who just want a good sing. Expect Disco 2000 by Pulp, Friday I’m In Love by The Cure and Day We Caught The Train by Ocean Colour Scene alongside Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis and Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus.
Then there are the crowd pleasers that get the whole room moving, like Don’t You Want Me by The Human League, Tubthumping by Chumbawamba and Dakota by Stereophonics. Birthday boys and girls even get Happy Birthday played just for them. Have a nose through the full indie covers band repertoire and pick out your own favourites.
Playing the upstairs function room or the downstairs bar
According to the club, it has two function spaces. There is a downstairs function room with a fully licensed bar, and an upstairs function room that holds 80 guests and comes with a private balcony and a kitchenette. The most the club lists for any one function is 100 guests. Add the squash courts, six floodlit tennis courts and a busy clubhouse and you have a friendly, lively setting for a celebration. The club will tell you which room suits your numbers best, and we will happily fit in around that.
Getting the timing right on the night
We find one long set works best once the food, speeches, cake cutting and buffet are out of the way. There are no distractions, and you get the best of the band while everyone is fresh and ready to dance. That said, if you’d rather we performed two sets instead then this really isn’t an issue for us. It’s your party so you should always have it your way.
If you’d like live music earlier in the day while guests arrive and the drinks start flowing, Andy also offers a solo acoustic performance for exactly that.
Booking a Stone Lawn Tennis and Squash Club party band for your celebration
We are an indie rock party band that is happy to play almost any kind of do, and a club like this suits a lot of them.
Birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas parties and corporate events
A milestone birthday party or a 40th is a natural fit, as is a wedding anniversary party where friends and family want to dance to the songs they grew up with. Club members and local firms might fancy a Christmas party band in December, or a corporate event band to give a staff celebration a lift. We also play retirement parties and private hire nights of all sorts.
A party band in Stone and the towns around it
Stone is a market town on the road between Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent, and we cover the whole area. If you are after a party band in Stafford, we have played The Seven Stars in Stafford, and out towards Eccleshall there is Standon Hall. Over in the Potteries, our Longton rugby club night will give you a feel for the energy we bring to a Stoke-on-Trent party.
We are based in Lichfield, so if you are looking for a party band in Lichfield or anywhere across Staffordshire, you are in the right place.
